Privacy Policy

last updated: 2026-09-03 · beta draft, plain-language summary, not yet reviewed by counsel

What a session records

A Faultybox session is a consented activity log of an assessment. During a session we record: terminal commands, their exit codes, and diffs of files changed in the environment. That is the complete list.

What we never record

No camera. No microphone. No screen capture. No biometrics. No keystroke dynamics. The product contains none of these today, and adding any of them would mean updating this policy first.

Retention

Session recordings and reports are retained for 12 months from the session date, then deleted. Employers may delete a candidate's session earlier at any time.

Candidate rights

For a lab you run on your own free or Practice plan, the report is yours and you see it in full. For a session a hiring team invited you to, the report is theirs: it is generated for them, and whether they share it with you is their decision. That is a product rule, not a limit on your data rights.

Either way, you can request a copy of the session data we hold about you, and you can request deletion of it, at any time by emailing support@faultybox.com. Deletion requests are honored.

Beta emails

Email addresses collected through the beta form are used only for beta communications. No marketing lists, no resale, ever.

Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic, which pages are read, and roughly where visitors come from. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects device and usage information; see Google's privacy policy for details. We do not use analytics data to identify individual visitors, and assessment session data is never shared with analytics tools.
